  • Wellness

The veterinary team at Tavares Animal Hospital will exceed your expectations.  The team truly understands what it means to provide compassionate care through a genuine love for the patients and their pet parents.

When considering a wellness program, no two pets are alike.  Each plan is created by listening to YOU, understanding your pet’s needs and their environment, and with consideration to the total health of the pet.  Our doctors truly enjoy talking with clients and it shows as conversations and getting to know your family are a priority.  This can be seen from the moment you call to make your appointment to the continued relationship once you leave.

Wellness is the foundation of your pet’s health and, unlike many practices, these appointments are not seen as just routine.  They are seen as the opportunity to help you, the owner, provide and enjoy the best possible quality of life with your pet.  Come see and feel the difference at Tavares Animal Hospital!

  • Allergies and Dermatology

Allergies and other skin issues can be incredibly frustrating and upsetting for pets and owners.  At Tavares, we don’t just rely on diagnosis and medication.  We work to educate you, the owner, so that you understand the issue and can take steps at home to reduce the exposure and symptoms.

Allergies in our pets can typically be broken into three categories – environmental/”atopy,” consumption/”food allergies,” and flea allergy. In most cases, these allergies will result in skin conditions, though it is important to point out, not all skin conditions are from allergies.  This means it is very important we understand, first, what is causing the issue and then put together a plan to treat it.

Tavares has in house equipment to get you results faster.  We use our full in house and outside laboratories to analyze skin scrapes and cytology, fungal cultures, perform allergy testing, and any other diagnostic services to ensure we are recommending the best care plan for your pet.

  • Dentistry

Is your dog or cat three years or older?  If so, there’s an 80% chance they are already dealing with oral disease according to the American Veterinary Dental Society.  We continue to learn more about how our pet’s dental health impacts the rest of their system, much like us humans.  As such, Tavares is working to make dental care a priority and accessible for all clients and budgets.

Pet dentistry does include anesthetic procedures to clean and possibly repair/remove problem teeth.  If left untreated, your pet’s dental health can reduce their body’s ability to resist infection or can even introduce infection.  Any time anesthesia is involved, your pet will have their very own medical concierge!  Their very own nurse will accompany them through the entire procedure, from the time they begin to doze off to the time they wake up!

Ask our staff about our dental months and dental packages to learn how your pet’s dental can be incorporated into their annual wellness.

  • Veterinary Surgery

Tavares Animal Hospital is the place for you and your pet when veterinary surgery is considered.  From our talented and experienced surgeons, to our high standards of care, to your pet’s very own concierge, Tavares provides unbeatable care for your pet.  In fact, we kind of wish we were treated this fantastic when we need surgery.

We offer everything from simple procedures like biopsies or dealing with lumps and bumps to major surgeries like exploratory or orthopedic.  Our knowledgeable staff is here to guide you through the entire process.

  • Boarding

Where better to board your family member than with their veterinarian?   This is especially true if your veterinarian is Tavares Animal Hospital!  Your pet is not a boarder at Tavares, he/she is our guest and we work to make sure they feel right at home.  This means if you feed your pet a treat every day at 10:00 AM, we see that it’s our job to maintain that same schedule.  Our care, compassion, and consistency ensure your pet has the best possible stay.

Along with your pet’s comfort, we pay special attention to our facilities. From our meticulously clean suites inside to the grassy play area, our kennel staff pay special attention to details.  We maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and our staff is specially trained to reduce any exposure to potential germs.  Outside, our guests enjoy a big, grassy exercise area and are taken out three times on weekdays and twice on weekends.

Does your pet have a special condition like diabetes, back problems or skin issues?  If so, Tavares is definitely the place for you.  Not only do we accept your pet for boarding, we go above and beyond to ensure their care and comfort.

To boot, your pet is under a doctor’s supervision.  If our highly trained team members, most of whom are veterinary technicians, notice anything out of the usual, it is immediately brought to the doctor’s attention.  This means you can head out for your trip with peace of mind, knowing your pet is safe and as happy as possible in your absence.

Our boarding services are only available to current clients, so if your pet is not currently under the care of the Tavares team, call today to find out how to get started!
